By registering for an Upwellers workshop or using this website, you're agreeing to these terms.

What you're buying

Upwellers sells seats in creative writing workshops — single sessions, an eight-week cycle, or a one-year membership. Registration and payment are handled through Stripe; see the Privacy Policy for how that works, and the Refund & Cancellation Policy for what happens if your plans change.

What's shared stays private

Workshops often involve personal writing — memoir, reflection, lived experience. What other participants share in a session is theirs, not yours to repeat or post elsewhere. Treat the room the way you'd want your own words treated.

Not a substitute for therapy

These are writing workshops, not therapy or mental health treatment. If you're working through something that needs professional support, a workshop can sit alongside that, but it isn't a replacement for it.

Workshop materials

Prompts, handouts, and other materials Kurt provides are for your own use, not for republishing or teaching from without asking first.

No guarantees

Upwellers does its best to deliver a good workshop experience, but makes no promises about specific outcomes — publication, personal breakthroughs, or anything else. Use of this site and participation in workshops is at your own discretion.

Limits on liability

To the extent allowed by law, Upwellers and Kurt Pitzer aren't liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of this site or participation in a workshop. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't allow it.

Other services

This site uses Stripe for payment and Mailchimp for email. Their own terms and policies govern what happens on their end.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Kentucky, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

Upwellers may update these terms as the business grows. The date at the top will reflect the latest version.
